The Thai nation is in mourning for Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, who passed away at 2:54am on January 2nd, 2008 after a battle with cancer for months. She was 84. The Princess is the elder sister of two kings of the Chakri Dynasty - King Rama Ananda and the present King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Princess Galyani Vadhana was recognised as a patron of the arts, culture and countless charities, many of which were initiated by Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother. (Courtesy of Bangkok Post)
